  I like to visit China Bistro every couple of years just to see if they've gotten better, and this time I can report that they've improved!
  
  China Bistro is a order-at-the-counter, American-Chinese place. They also have a drive-thru. The menu is standard goopy American-Chinese, with a few less-usual dishes mixed in. The flavors are not subtle: today my broccoli beef was salty; in previous years the sweet dishes were VERY sweet.
  
  As in previous years, they're not very busy at lunchtime. The atmosphere was quite peaceful (not many people there!) with a pleasant view of apple trees shielding us from the busy road.
  
  Hygiene on this visit was much better than in previous years. The tables were clean, window sills were clean, I didn't see any uncovered trays of food in the kitchen, and they even had the credit card terminal covered with plastic wrap. I didn't get a good look at hand washing and utensil washing practices.
  
  Most entrees are around 7 bucks, though some run over $10.  I didn't experience any language barrier on this lunchtime visit.
  
  The bottom line? Not bad if you're in a hurry or on a budget. If you've been staying away due to a previous "marginal" experience, it might be worth giving them a try again.

  Drive thru Chinese. Who knew? This is about 2 min from my work and I was without lunch. Reading the reviews I thought I'd give it a whirl. One person ahead of me in line and I was driving away with my food in under five minutes. I got the combo fried rice. It was hot, fresh, the shrimp seemed dece, and honestly pretty darn good! Could've used a little more seasons but it was pretty standard fried rice. It's cheap, quick, and convenient!

  I go to China Bistro on a regular basis because it is the only Chinese restaurant in the neighborhood. Food is OK. Prices are a little high. The place is almost always deserted because everyone knows they rape you on drinks (canned pop for $2.50). If you eat there order out, but go inside so you can make sure they do not screw up the order and you can watch them make the food.
  
  I was told the Hy-Vee grocery store has better Chinese food and service. It is close by. I will try that next time. If you have any other choice, do not eat at China Bistro. If you have to have Chinese and there is no other choice, it is better than nothing.

  Very good Chinese food. Yes, English is difficult but if you are patient and not an ass you can have a fantastic meal. They always go out of their way to serve us well. Love this place and that it is not a chain.

  This is my favorite Chinese restaurant around. The sweet and sour chicken and egg drop soup is the absolute best!
